Acacia implexa (Lightwood) is a fast-growing, medium-sized Australian native tree known for its graceful, weeping foliage and durable timber. Its long, narrow, pale green leaves provide soft, dappled shade, making it an excellent choice for gardens, streetscapes, and revegetation projects. During summer, it produces clusters of pale yellow, lightly fragrant flowers, attracting bees and other pollinators.
Highly adaptable, Lightwood thrives in a range of soil conditions, including dry and poor soils. It is drought-tolerant once established and can be used for erosion control and as a windbreak. The tree's hard, dark brown timber is prized for woodworking, while its seed pods provide food for native wildlife.
