Agave Pygmaea (Dragon Toes Agave) is a small, striking succulent known for its unique, spiky leaves that form a dense rosette. The leaves are grey-green with reddish-brown tips that resemble the claws of a dragon, hence the name "Dragon Toes." This compact agave is perfect for small gardens, containers, or rockeries, where its distinctive form can be admired.
While Agave pygmaea is slow-growing, it forms a sturdy and architectural presence with its sculptural leaves. It is an excellent choice for dry, low-maintenance gardens due to its drought-tolerant nature. The plant rarely flowers but adds year-round interest with its bold foliage.
